These clippers are not bad, but not as good as my previous ones (which had become dull). The short, petite dimensions of the handles decrease the leverage on the clipper, and the safety panel behind the clippers is just flat. My previous clippers had the safety panel bowl-shaped, so that the clipped pieces of nails were caught there for inspection and easy dumping. So, because the sharpness is so much better than my old clippers, I am using these for now. But I’ll be looking for something which more closely resembles my old clippers.Nice sturdy handles and sharp blades? My two dogs are both around 70lbs and their nails are dark and rock solid. After an old clipper bit the dust I was forced to get a new one (not an easy task...I went through about 8 before I landed on this one). This clipper cuts smoothly, fits in your hand nicely, and makes trimming easy and stress free for everyone. A dull clipper will really freak your dogs out.I would recommend sticking with the small size even if you have big dogs. It works well and you're only cutting off a little at a time.*Included a few pictures after nail clipping*Finally! Bella, my 12 years old Shih Tzu let me cut her nails. This clipper is quiet and sharp. The stop really helps avoid over cuts. Keep reading if your dog is afraid of grooming their nails. Most of my dog’s life she went to the Grooming Salon for a proper grooming, she was as long I can remember super afraid of grooming, but when she was around 5 I used a Mobile grooming service which groomer turned out to be an abuser, the business owner gave me that information. Unfortunately, that person was working with Bella for about 1 year when we learned about the abuse?. Bella became the groomers wise nightmare after that specially to cut her nails. She definitely hates the click sound which this clipper doesn’t have and if I just cut it very quick she accepts without through a fit. I also didn’t cut a lot but will do it for several weeks until it gets short and nice. I am so happy for being able to take care of my best friend without hurt or stress her, and I hope the same for you and your furry friend. ❤️Very good tool, and inexpensive. These trimmers are very easy to hold and are extremely sharp. My 47lbs husky/lab absolutely hates when I clip her nails. I was using clippers I’ve had for about 3 years and she just wasn’t having it. I now understand that the blades were probably dull, mostly because I ordered a small pair of these and they sliced through like butter. She still absolutely hates when I touch her mitts but at least it’s a ton faster and cleaner.I didn’t buy the large even though she has really thick nails. Someone here said you probably wouldn’t need the bigger size unless you had an 80lbs dog and they were pretty spot on with it.The clippers themselves are extremely sharp, they have a good spring to them and the stopper to prevent you from cutting too much off seems to be just right for my dog, but I never clip that much off at a time because my dog’s quick is long and her nails are black(better safe than sorry). When they do start to dull I’d definitely repurchase. My dog hates getting her nails cut. She has black nails and has had them cut too short in the past which has proven very traumatic to her so she just generally doesn't like the whole process even though she is the sweetest dog ever and is usually extremely easy going. But taking her to a professional groomer on a regular basis just to get her nails done was expensive and a pain in the butt and I just didn't have the time so it wasn't getting done as often as it should which isn't good for her. So I decided to give doing her nails myself another go. But I wanted to make sure I got the best clippers possible and did my research first. I read all the reviews and finally settled on these. They really are as good as everyone says they are. They are nice and sharp and really strong so they go straight through the nail instead of crunching down painfully like some of the cheaper models. This makes the process quick and easy so I have been able to slowly get her adjusted to getting them done and it has been going well. I don't know how long they will stay sharp for but as soon as they start getting dull, I will definitely purchase another pair.Would highly recommend!I found the tool to be very good quality and well made.My WCS, Joe, has black nails, so I have to creep-up on to the quick, fine shavings allows me to do this without fear of actually cutting the quick. The little depth-stop is okay, in theory, but actually hampers the view which, ironically, could lead to cutting too deep. It's not a drama, as it can be swung out of the way. Otherwise, a really useful tool.I really like these cutters, unlike many I've used these were sharp straight out of the box, prior to this I've had ones that struggle to cut and required dismantling and sharpening, they've looked sharp but once you start the job proved to be a different story. It's no fun finding out whilst holding on to a big old labrador while he wonders what the hell you're doing to his feet. My dog is really old now and can't get around very well so his nails aren't wearing like they used to, I only used to ever have to cut his dew claws but now it's a full set, my old cutters always left a fair bit of filing to do and my dog hated that bit, these manage a somewhat cleaner cut and involve only minor filing, in some cases I've not had to file at all. They're comfortable in use and the cut limiter (which helps prevent you cutting to low) is handy as I'm always fearful of cutting too low. I'm no expert but all in all I'd happily recommend these cutters to those with larger dogs. There's nothing not to like about these nail trimmers. Both edges of the bypass blades cut cleanly and with equal pressure on either side of the nail, much better and less painful than the single shear blade on another type of cutter I've used. I have a veteran Labrador with large horny nails and a pup with quick growing softer nails. The tool copes with both easily. Great buy for the money. After reading other reviews how these clippers have worked for GSD's and Lab's nails I thought I would give them a go.Well I have a Golden Retriever and a Chow Chow. These clippers will just about cut my Chows dew claws, as for my Golden - no way -not a hope. They are nicely made with a really nice rubber grip and smooth action and for the price paid I think they are good value. On the packet it is written "Stainless steel Nail Trimmer for small to medium dogs". That's not quite what they are advertised as here on Amazon. No point in sending them back as they come from America. I wonder if they have different dogs to us.I will be passing them on to someone with a much smaller dog.
